DESCRIPTION
The Magnificent Frigatebird (Fregata magnificens) is a large seabird with a wingspan approaching 2 and a half meters. With its characteristic gliding flight, it can effortlessly travel over 1,000 kilometers offshore. Its skeleton constitutes only 5% of its total weight, which doesn't exceed one and a half kilograms. It nests in large colonies on mangroves or shrubs along the coast.
In the image, a spectacular flock of Frigatebirds paints the sky with its elegance, conveying a sense of freedom and lightness that characterizes these majestic seabirds. The black wings of these magnificent birds stand out against the blue sky, creating a fascinating contrast. Frigatebirds, belonging to the family Fregatidae, are renowned for their incredible flying abilities. Thanks to their long and tapered wings, they are able to glide through the air with extreme grace and agility.

Pietro Canali has been a professional photographer since 2005. His first forays into photography began when he discovered a 1950s Rolleiflex that belonged to his grandfather. Since then, his love for nature and the outdoors has informed his personal interpretation of the places he photographs.
His mentors on his creative path are the naturalist photographers of the American school and their use of light as language.
Based between his hometown of Umbria, Italy and Montreal, Canada, he travels extensively to constantly create new travel and landscape imagery.
