The Bosque de Cardones in Loreto, located in the northern region of Mexico, is a unique and fascinating ecosystem. This image captures the essence of this natural sanctuary, where columns of cardon cacti rise to extraordinary heights. The Bosque de Cardones also holds significant cultural value. Local communities often attribute spiritual meaning to these majestic cacti, considering them guardians of the land and their history. Sailing on the Balandra of Baja California is an experience that blends the history, nature, and culture of its coasts.

The Milanese Jesuit missionary Giovanni Maria Salvatierra, born to Spanish parents, received authorization to enter Baja California in late 1680. After evangelizing the Tarahumara Indians in present-day Chihuahua, he settled permanently in the bay of Loreto in 1697, founding what he called the "Head and Mother of the Missions of Baja California." Loreto overlooks a large bay protected by Isla Carmen and other smaller islands.
